About 40 miles south of San Francisco the Half Moon Bay Jetty holds back the famous waves and tides of Pillar Point and creates a perfect stretch of the California coast for kayaking. The harbor is home to great food, fantastic outdoor sports, and of course our lovely little inn, “Inn At Mavericks”.
One of the favorite sports in the harbor is kayaking as the water is calm and the seaside is decorated with beaches, cliffs, the wharf, homes, restaurants, and hotels. As you are kayaking across the bay be sure visit the sea lions and harbor seals that live in front of the Half Moon Bay Yacht Club. The local wildlife protections groups ask all visitors to never pick up or touch the pups as touching a baby seal hurts the chances of it reuniting with its mother.
Although Pillar Point harbor is blessed with beautiful blue summer days, it is also a romantic seaside destination and has days of fog and intermittent clouds. You can rent kayaks, stand up paddle-boards, and bikes at Half Moon Bay Kayak Company and launch your day’s adventure without packing equipment.
