Located directly across from Pescadero State Beach is the Pescadero Marsh Natural Preserve, which is a 235-acre haven for great blue herons, double-crested cormorants, great egrets, and more. The marsh surrounds the convergence of the Butano and Pescadero Creeks and is the only extensive wetland along the coast of the San Francisco Peninsula.

The Marsh Preserve includes several habitats: a tidal estuary, freshwater marsh, brackish water marsh, dense riparian woods, and northern coastal scrub. The Sequoia Audubon Trail is the main trail through the Marsh Preserve.

Please visit The Coastside State Parks Association Website for more information.
