There’s something special about being right on the water. At Inn at Mavericks, fishing boats come and go, seabirds make their rounds, and the changing light over Pillar Point Harbor provides a view that never gets old.

Tucked along the waterfront in Princeton-by-the-Sea, just north of downtown Half Moon Bay, our small boutique inn has only six suites. Each offers beautiful harbor and ocean views, plenty of room to relax, and a private deck or patio where you can enjoy the fresh coastal air.

Princeton-by-the-Sea has a character all its own. It’s a working fishing harbor with good restaurants, friendly local businesses, and easy access to some of the most beautiful stretches of the California coast.

Whether you’re visiting for a romantic weekend, a few days of exploring, or simply a change of scenery, Inn at Mavericks is a comfortable place to settle in and enjoy it all.

A Waterfront Retreat Unlike Any Other

With just six suites, Inn at Mavericks feels a little different from a traditional hotel. There’s no sprawling lobby or bustling resort atmosphere. Instead, you’ll find spacious accommodations, a spectacular waterfront setting, and the freedom to enjoy the coast at your own pace.

Every suite has its own private outdoor space overlooking Pillar Point Harbor. Our three upstairs suites feature waterfront decks, while the three ground-floor suites have private patios and welcome guests traveling with dogs.

Inside, you’ll find comfortable beds, inviting sitting areas, gas fireplaces, and the little conveniences that make a getaway feel easy.

Complimentary on-site parking makes coming and going simple, although with restaurants, harbor activities, and waterfront scenery so close by, you might find yourself leaving the car parked for a while.

Romance, Relaxation, and Coastal Charm

Some weekends are made for doing absolutely nothing. Others are for long walks, good meals, and discovering somewhere new. At Inn at Mavericks, you can enjoy a little of both.

Start the morning with coffee on your private deck, watching the harbor wake up. Spend the afternoon exploring a beach, walking a coastal trail, or lingering over lunch at a nearby restaurant. Later, head back to your suite, put your feet up, and enjoy the view.

For couples planning a romantic Half Moon Bay getaway, our waterfront suites offer plenty of reasons to stay in, too. Private decks and patios, cozy fireplaces, and deep soaking tubs in select suites make it easy to turn an ordinary weekend into something memorable.

And while there’s plenty to see and do along the Coastside, you don’t need a full itinerary to enjoy your stay. Sometimes watching the boats, listening to the water, and having nowhere in particular to be is exactly what you came for.

One of the best things about Inn at Mavericks is the neighborhood.

Princeton-by-the-Sea is a small harbor village with a distinctly local personality. Fishing boats still bring in their catch, seafood restaurants serve the day’s fresh offerings, and visitors mingle with people who live and work along the coast.

From the Inn, it’s easy to explore Pillar Point Harbor, discover nearby beaches, or head out for a day of kayaking, cycling, hiking, or wildlife watching. The famous Mavericks surf break is just offshore, known around the world for the enormous waves that arrive during winter swells.

A short drive south takes you into downtown Half Moon Bay, with its independent shops, galleries, restaurants, and small-town charm. Beyond town, the coastline opens up to miles of beaches, parks, and scenic trails.
