Each of our six individually decorated rooms, named after a famous surfing spot in the area, has its own unique style.
~Flat Rock~
About a mile south of Moss Beach Distillery and another half mile out lies a reef break known as Flat Rock, which lies on the edge of a steep underwater ravine. Getting to this spot takes courage and stamina. First there's the treacherous near free-falling drop down 100 foot sandstone cliffs, then the long reef-hopping hike through sea urchins and finally a short but vigorous paddle in shifting currents to a large, cumbersome rock that is both intimidating and refuge. Only the southern portion is truly surfable, which works best on west swells. The swells wrap around the rock creating a right that is both hollow and steep. You rarely see other surfers at this spot. It is a badge to even make it this far! However keep plenty of energy stored in your system, as the hike back to your car can be much worse on the body.
What makes the Flat Rock Guestroom so special…
Located in the quaint village of Princeton-by-the-Sea just minutes north of historic Half Moon Bay, you will find beachcombing, hiking, tidepooling, shopping, kayaking and oceanfront dining all within easy walking distance.
This is a really nice little gem just outside of Half Moon Bay. My wife and I stayed for a weekend getaway and we think it was probably the best place we've stayed at. First off, the rooms are right on the bay. Perfect views no matter which of the only 6 rooms they have. Really quiet with really well decorated and updated furnishings. The bed is really comfortable with the pillow top. We got a call that our room was ready 4 hours earlier than check-in. We walked in to a bottle of wine and chocolates and it's got a Kuerig coffee maker!!
Very short walk to several restaurants in which we had a wonderful dinner at the Mezza Luna just around the corner. Definitely going to stay there again soon. Worth the cost! The other "resort" up the road has views of the marina's parking lot, not like the Inn at Mavericks waterfront location. The only bad thing is as more people hear of this little gem with only 6 rooms, it will be hard to stay here because it will be constantly sold out!! Hahaha...
Definitely check this place out!
Thank you, for a wonderful celebration of our seventh wedding anniversary!!! Every moment was treasured and will be remembered.
Price is inexpensive for what you get...but we of course loved that!
