Beginning in 1971, and put on by the Half Moon Bay Beautification Committee, the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival was started with the goal of providing funds to restore historic Main Street in Downtown Half Moon Bay. Today, the festival is the season's signature event and is one of California's oldest, biggest, and most popular festivals. This year's 45th year of the festival will include many exciting activities. Huge, gigantic, over-sized pumpkins will be weighed in this year's Safeway world championship pumpkin weigh-off for a chance to win a prize of $30,000. The festival will include a parade, pumpkin sculptures, local artists block and harvest inspired crafts, four stages of live music entrainment, pie eating contests, a costume contest, pumpkin inspired cuisine, craft beer, wine, and artisanal cocktails, haunted Johnston Barn, and much much more. Don't miss the coastside's most popular event perfect for the whole family!
